Way ahead of you-I have gloves, a respirator, and painters coveralls. But thanks for making sure. The respirator and gogles I bought are my best friends when under the truck sanding loose flakes off. You can really tell where Ford failed to put rust preventative or good paint. My frame is really in great shape aside from the tiny amount of rust on the front. My bed mounts right above the bumper and radiator core are eat up with rust. The front Driveshaft could use some POR15 too but I can't really get to it easily. The rear driveshaft is now ready for paint. I've decided to just paint my spare tire with straight paint as I don't have any POR15 primer for the top coat. I've gotten most rust off except for some tiny spots. I've discovered a hole in my left Flowmaster weld. I'll have to go get that fixed. I tell you its no fun doing the sanding but I actually do like to paint trucks and bikes so I might like actually putting the POR15. I'm still not sure keeping this truck is the right thing to do with the way it is. I'm going to continue with the job and see how things are looking afterwards. I've got my first truck to do after this one I'll probably be the expert on this stuff with a little help from others. Thanks again I would be lost without everyones help

How do I remove the piece of plastic over my radiator? I can't seem to find out how to get it off with possible breaking something?

If you don't use a full can of the por in one sitting, make sure you put a piece of plastic wrap over the can before you put the lid on. It makes getting it off easier.

^ . I've found that engine oil will take Por15 off of your skin. Gloves recommended.

The plastic piece over the radiator is just held there with screw pops. I remove them with an interior removal tool and a Philips.

You probably know but, if you're trying to get all of the core support where its likely to rust, you're going to want to remove the fender splash shields. I'm getting ready to blast and coat mine before having it ziebarted

They will spin until you pry under them at the same time.

Ok thanks. All of the exhaust welds are badly rusted, is there something I can put on them to stop this from happening again? Another question is can I paint the U-joints with the POR or will that make them freeze up? I would just put on a light coat on the outside of them.

Just bought some Eastwood Rust Encapsulater and Internal Frame Spray. The Internal spray should be of good use for me and the Encapsulater is for the areas that POR15 won't work at ( any if I miss anything lol).

I got a good deal done today and I'll try to upload some pics of the rust. The radiator support is now stripped of all things attached to it and is ready for sanding. Most things are now ready for the Marine Clean tomorrow and then Prep and Ready Friday. Its a 10% chance of rain Saturday so I'm really counting on it not raining or everything will have to wait till next weekend to be painted. Now I only have 3 hours a day to work on the truck before it gets dark out during the week. Apparently a tropical storm may hit on Sunday too.

My truck has surface rust on the under side, not really bad but I don't like it so I'm taking everything down to the metal while the truck is apart and doing POR-15 Gloss black. Bought $50 worth and probably gonna need a lot more lol.

Well I've finished decreasing everything I'm going to paint only to find out that Saturday and Sunday is a good chance it will rain now. I'll have to wait till next weekend to paint with the POR15. The F150 stays outside in the street so will I have to go back and redo everything if I wait a week to paint it? I've used almost all of my Marine Clean so I will have to order more if I need to degrease again. Can I go ahead and put the Prep and Ready on or will the rain possibility ruin that too? I need to figure out where all my bolts go so I don't forget which things go where over the course of the week. If the rain won't ruin my prep on the truck is like to go ahead and make everything ready so the odd chance it does not rain I can have the truck back as my daily driver faster. My F100 is suffering from carb problems and is temperamental in itself so having to rely on it all the time isn't good.

Today turned out great. I was able to put both coats of POR15 in all planned areas. The spare tire is done and I can say it looks awesome. I found some more rust I need to cover but I will have to do that next weekend. I used Eastwood Rust Encapsulater on the radiator support and it looks like new after top coating with Duplicolor Oxford white. I got paint all over myself ( including hair) as it was crazy hot in that coveralls so I ditched them. Big mistake. I used the rest of the Eastwood Rust Encapsulater on the cab mounts. I probably should have waited as I don't know which areas are POR15 or Eastwood to top coat.Tomorrow I will do the Chassis Black top coat if the weather holds out. I haven't decided how many coats to do of that. Will one coat suffice? I will be glad for this job to be done as my F100 is very difficult to drive because it doesn't like to idle for long ( carb needs rebuild).
