Default Synthetic

Being new to a 5.4 Triton I'm going to be changing the oil and filter in my 2002 F150 SuperCrew and I found in the owners manual that it is recommended to use a synthetic blend motor oil. Any suggestions on Mobil 1 full synthetic or Castrol Edge synthetic? What's the difference in synthetic blend as the manual calls for or a full synthetic? Thanks for any input.

I use Mobil 1 full synthetic and it's always ran great.

Also, just a side note: When changing out the filter use Motorcraft instead of Fram. For whatever reasons Fords don't run well frams. Caused mine to have a rattle under the hood. Switched to motocraft and it's all better

I run full synthetic, Moible 1 5w20 and it runs like a dream. I may switch to Amsoil next oil change.

I've been running Motorcraft Synthetic Blend 5w20 with a Purolator Classic Oil Filter. I've used Castrol Synthetic Blend when I've found it cheaper than Motorcraft, but usually the Motorcraft is the cheapest SynBlend other than the Wal-mart "Super Tech".

I use motocraft synthetic blend 5W20 and a Napa Gold filter. Runs great, but next time I'll probably run Mobil 1 with motocraft filter.

Full synthetic is 100% synthetic oil while synthetic blend is a combination of synthetic oil and conventional oil. Huge negative to synthetic blend is no regulation on the amount of actual synthetic oil in it. Ive always run Mobil 1 full synthetic and changed at 5000 mile intervals.

Also you can get Mobil 1 synthetic in a 5 qt. jug about $10.00 cheaper at WalMart than at Oreillys or Advanced Auto.

I use Mobil1 0W/20 AFE with a Bosch Distance Plus filter. I prefer the 0W/20 in the winter for easier starts in the cold. During the spring I switch it back to Mobil1 5W/20.
