Default Switch Mount

Where is the best place to mount a 12mm switch? I am wiring up a switch to my LED's and i can't really find any place besides the fuse panel door, which seems like it would be a pain. Does anyone know where a good spot would be and how to do it? i have a 97 flareside! thank you guys so much!

A lot of people mount switches on the dash piece around the steering wheel, that's where I have some of mine.

i was just going to say that, is it easy to get the thing off? if i recall its only on by 4 clips? also, what should i cut my hole with, i have a small dremel, battery powered drills, and a drill press. and is it easy to run wires from the firewall to it, lastly is it safe? i don't want no wires to get stuck in my steering column resulting in me not being able to turn! ahaha thank you very much wolf!

It's really easy to get it to pop off, the hole in the firewall is not that far from it and no there's a ton of space behind it to run wires without getting the way of the column. Just take the piece out and use a battery powered drill that's all I did. Here's a pic of my switches.

Alright, i was thinking of doing it on the left side, will that mess anything up? also, my switch is kind of large, about 1"x.5" on the back side of the switch, will that fit?

There is a lot of room back there. Just pop the piece off and look for yourself. I would bet that it will fit fine.

I would unplug it till your all done with everything else and make it the last thing to hook up. The switches up there are to my lights behind the grille and the lights in the openings next to my license plate. The other set I have on the lower part of my dash go to my strobes. But where there at is a royal pain to get to and would not recommend it at all.

I just got a finger under the corner and pulled up and it pops out pretty easy. Good luck put some pics up when you get done.
