Default Straw in the engine

You know that red straw that comes with throttle cleaner? Mine flew off and went right down the throttle and into te engine. What do I do. I can't see it behind the butterfly flap. Am I going to have to buy a new engine for this truck? Take it to a mechanic? Can I take the top off the area begin te butterfly piece to find it? Any help would be great. In trying to not take something apart I now have a even bigger problem. crystal

Haha now that's funny! But don't worry man it's not that big of a deal! Just take off the throttle body and I'm sure you'll be able to retrieve it. It can't just fall down into a cylinder.

Was the engine running? If not, not an issue, you do need to take the intake off though to get it (not a huge deal). Just don't start the truck.

If it was running, it should still be sitting in the upper part of the manifold, but could possibly get sucked down and actually get into an intake valve (not likely, but is possible).

Should be, they are just vacuum lines I believe. No liquids or anything like that running through them though.

Stuff like that happens! Don't be embarrassed it makes for a funny story later!

I did it!! I used Grinos (?) post on here to show me how and I pulled it apart. Stupid little sucker was way at the bottom I had to use salad tongs to get it out. I guess its a good thing I did though the two small holes that I think go to the round disk thing were packed solid with black stuff. We have had a check engin light on about the DPFE sensor and that is connected to it so I wonder if it will turn that off now. I think I'm ready for a nap or a chocolate cupcake. Thank Y'all for the encouragment and words of advice. C

Glad to know it worked out and yes it is definitely better to remove the throttle body when cleaning as to get the back side behind the butterfly valve

Haha, so I'm not the only person who has done this. Many years ago the dealer I worked at had this used beat up Aerostar van that they were going to wholesale but ran like crap. They wanted it 'fixed' without spending any money or as cheap as possible to at least sell it at auction. So during my throttle body/intake spray cleaning session the straw when right through the throttle blade. I turned off the motor and could see it with a mirror and the butterfly held wide open but couldn't get any tool in there to pull it without pulling the TB off, and they didn't want to mess with this thing any more then I had to. So I carried on and finished my decarb, revved the hell out of that b****, road tested it hard and shipped it out the door, good riddance and nice knowing you! Haha :P
