Stranded. Won't start
I hate that, just went through the same thing again recently myself, I mean after I posted the last time in this thread. Iduno if my problems were different than yours though. I put off fixing it for awhile since I could play with it between park and neutral and get it to start. But when I couldn't, I popped the hood and started by shorting the starter relay solenoid. That worked every time, just like explained earlier.
I finally got around to fixing it this time, it took all 5 minutes lol. I tightened the torx screws on the column and adjusted my pointer, it hasn't done it since.
There's also another possibility for this issue, the linkage or shift cable plastic pieces (fasteners) that hold it in place can break. Lots of You Tubes on it.

Thanks. I will have to check those out after this repair. My pointer is perfect on all letters. Maybe I just got a bad starter.

And I tried shorting the solenoid under the hood. Same exact click I got as last time on the starter. This is 100% identical to the last time they had to replace the starter.
Sorry multitasking this morning, didn't get everything in, anyway, - There could be other reasons for this to occur, don't get me wrong. You could have a bad connection at the starter, that happens a lot as well. Like I said, I can short the solenoid to start mine as a last resort. According to your post earlier, you can not...doesn't work for you. So it sounds like you have a cable short. Those can be a PITA to narrow down unless your good with a MM and have a pistol bump starter to test load under the hood. If without, you resort to just cleaning everything up, going through your cableing and grounds. The cable connections and grounds don't have to look bad to short either. Your cleanest cable could be shorting or the cable could be rotted inside the insulation.
Every starter I've purchased had lifetime warranties. Check your paper work. Also, if you work on your starter be VERY careful loosening the little nut on the starter (hopefully it's double nutted) because the stud will break off...the starter is trashed.

At my trusted mechanic now.
Said NAPA is dropping off another under warranty.

Seems like that should be a good starter. I know my garage will check the cables and such.
I'm sure they won't bench test. They didn't even look at it and ordered the other starter.
