Default Starting Problem

Bit of a long story, truck hasn't run for a year. Replaced fuel pump 1.5 years ago, lost keys, my buddy tore apart steering column and a few wires got broken, we smashed ignition cylinder. I wired fuel pump hot from battery with a kill switch, replaced fuel filter (had fuel in it). Truck cranks, starts momentarily with starting fluid, pump definitely works. Saw a solenoid looking thing with a code on it YL3F-AC, is this keeping fuel from getting to engine?

Check your fuel lines for pressure at the rails by the engine. If you have good pressure there. Probably the PATS system killing the truck because the ignition is hot wired.

holly Cow!! Man why didn't you call a local locksmith or something? They can normally come out and cut and program keys at the vehicle on spot. Or at least they can in my town. What year is this truck? Lol wow I never understood why people tear steering columns apart when they lose the keys.... Jbrew have fun with this one! Hahahaha you know you want to!!!! ROFL

I don't think it is the PATS. I know if I put my spare key in my ignition and turn it nothing happens I don't think the PATS cuts the fuel.

Have you checked the inertia switch?

Also turn the pump on and check pressure at the rails. Put a rag over the Schrader valve and press the pin.

i have fuel at the fuel rail no doubt, pushed on it and fuel came flying out.

Doesn't the inertia switch just cut the ground? pump wouldn't run at all even with it hot wired, if I'm not mistaken

To my understanding and my past experience with PATS..... And I even had the keys to my truck.... It would allow it to start for about 1-2 seconds and die. I'm pretty sure it also threw a code when I scanned it it said something along the lines of ain't theft active.... I don't remember it's been a whole since all this. But PATS will allow the truck to turn over.. And crank! But only till it realizes... HEY THERES NO TRANSPONDER! Then bam the truck kills it's self.

Yes I def have spark, runs with starting fluid fine

was speaking to my shop's mechanic and he was saying that the injectors have to open, so looks like i need a steering column with transponder and key. junkyard digging time i suppose
