Starting issue! please help
i know im new to the forum and i have searched all over the place but cant seem to find help. i just got a 2000 f150 4.2 off of my uncle a week ago and the truck runs amazing. but just friday i went to get in the truck i turned the key and nothing happend, dash lights flashed off and the starter solonoid clicked but no cracking. i turned the key off then back on and the truck fired right up. i watched the theft light which didnt blink. what can be causing this? it doesnt happen all the time
Might as well disconnect the terminals and clean them good, don't forget to clean the battery posts as well - check out the lead going to the starter for corrosion. and look at any grounds for broken or frayed connections.
Sounds like a bad connection to me. Most common are the battery terminals.

x2 ^ battery terminals are the first thing to check and are usually the problem. also the + post at the starter usually corrodes pretty bad. does the starter make and grinding or odd noiises when you try to start it?
No not at all nothng happens when I try just the solonoid clicks then nothing, I did clean the terminals last night and the truck has started fine since, ill keep yaa posted, thanks much guys
