UPDATE

Just got off the phone with the mechanic shop, yes, it is the instrument cluster, to get it pulled, sent off, a NEW one back, installed, $1263.66 out the door with a 2 year, 24 month, full warranty, including labor.

He said that was the only thing wrong with the truck, we said go ahead, can get it back next Tuesday. We do know that this is about $700 cheaper than the Ford dealership.

With the truck only having 123K on it, seems reasonable to make this investment, we ought to be able to get a couple more years out of it, GOD WE HOPE. lol

D**N that sucks dude... $1200? Sorry to hear about that. Though it is nice to hear that its was the only issue. Though if you want my opinion, $1200 seems a bit steep. Am i right in this? Or do i just not know much about how mush this stuff costs?

IF we would have went the "repair" route with this Mr. Wizard place we found online, $189.00 to send ours in, get it repaired and sent back, they would guarantee the part for 2 years, BUT, that would not include the service to pull it out and reinstall it, if something went wrong. So, IF something went wrong, we would have to pay an additional $400 to the mechanic to redo the process, that would be a total of $800 LABOR. We figured pay the $1263 upfront and get it guaranteed top to bottom for the two years, instrument cluster has problem(s) during that two years, cost us nothing to again get it replaced.

To the Daddies, Granddaddies, Uncles, Big Brothers, Older Cousins, do your young ones a HUGE FAVOR, MAKE THEM go out with you to work on your vehicles, crying, bawling, whatever, the CASH you will save them through their entire lives, they will WORSHIP you for doing it now. lol lol

Ah. By the way though... have you already got the cluster fixed? If you havent gotten it out yet, i could send you a link on how to take it out. Or i could make one of my own if you want. I've had to take out my cluster 5 times before...

I appreciate that, but it is at the mechanics now and he is taking care of everything. We are NOT mechanically inclined in the least, guy, I have trouble getting our bread machine apart to clean, hand to God! lol

We desperately want this truck to last another 2 to 3 years anyway, it only has 123K miles on it, so it should, we love it and love the comfort of driving it a lot. We live in Texas where we have HEL* Summers, the A/C is to die for and desperately needed. lol

I really do appreciate EVERYONE and THANK EVERYONE for taking their time and going to the trouble to respond to this thread and try to help.

You guys are stupendous!

Good luck with it. A few more years should be no problem.
