Also if the digital speedo reads zero and doesnt change then that means it is not receiving a signal from the vss. The vss is a 20 dollar part at most and it is located on the tail shaft of the transfer case. The second one they are talking about is for the abs on the rear axel and shouldnt be causing your problem.

Thank You VERY MUCH!

We will test this later this morning when we get out, we are just praying it is not a bad cluster, we just spent $555 on getting the fuel pump replaced and the lines pressure cleaned out about 2 weeks ago.

Ok so I did a little research. It will end up being close to a 40 dollar part (my fault) and if your truck is 2wd it will be near the tailshaft of the tranny and look like this with one bolt holding it in. the heads on the bolts arent the strongest so just tighten to a snug fit so you dont break it off. http://www.1aauto.com/1A/SpeedSensor...FYje4AodZm0ACw

Thank you again, we are NOT mechanically inclined in the least, we are going to test it with the odometer later this morning and if that is it, we can get it replaced in about an hour at a mechanics shop that we took it to yesterday for $100 out the door. We are just praying that is it.

Listen, we don't even change our own oil! lol I have always regretted not learning about vehicle mechanics, but my Father was not so inclined either and I was an only child, so I didn't grow up with anyone around that worked on their own vehicles and God have I paid through the nose in my life for it too. lol

We did the test mode with the odometer acting like a speedometer, IT READ THE SPEED OUT, so it is NOT the VSS as it is reporting the speed, at least that is what I got from a previous post.

This is getting me really worried now, like another several hundred dollar repair bill.

When you turned on the digital mode did all of your gauges sweep to the maximum then fall back to zero?

The VSS on the axle is the most common one to go out

I honestly do not remember.

We have taken it to a mechanic who is running a full $95 diagnostic on it to isolate the problem. They are suppose to call us sometime this afternoon with the results, we just got back home.
