A. Verify your wires are plugged into the right amp. B. Check your amp(s) to make sure they're in the proper "mode". Most if not all of the amps I have used in the past have had a switch/**** where I could select "hi", "lo", or "both". Subs should be set to "lo" and door speakers should be set to "hi", or their equivalents. No need for a both setting with the way you're running your things.

Sounds like your amp has a crossover for a subwoofer. Make sure that it is turned off.

Edit: looks like sumidor beat me to it.

i did all that.. i dont understand why its not working. all cables are split and running the the right amps. every time i plug a speaker in i just get bass. you can hear the vocals but its very very blurry and muffled.

Do you have your levels set properly? Also, have you ensured your RCAs are plugged into the right holes? Meaning, speakers to speaker amp, sub to sub amp. Under the wrong settings on my headunit or amp, or both, I have heard very faint vocals come from my subs in the past. So it sounds to me like something isn't set properly. Check to make sure all relevant wires (speaker wire and RCAs) are in their proper places, and try fiddling with the levels. Do it in small increments so you don't ruin anything. If you don't see an improvement with one setting, try another before cranking it all the way over to the other side of the dial. That make sense?

I don't have a lot of experience with the whole audio thing, but I have tried to be observant of what's been done to my vehicles while under the knife, so I can and will try to help you as much as I can. I won't knowingly steer you in the wrong direction if I don't know what I'm talking about.

ive hooked up systems in the past. its just so confusing because i did that as well. i even went and did one speaker at a time messing with each setting and each wire. ive never seen anything like this before.

I'm not entirely sure, but from what I think I know about amplifiers, I don't think it would matter... I suppose IDEALLY, you should use a four channel... Honestly dude, I don't know what else to suggest. Perhaps your amplifier took a crap on you?

Did you use the adapters for the speakers? Some of the commercially available ones have the polarity reversed.
