a 265 70 16 tire is 30.6" in diameter. It should easily fit. I have a 99 XLT scab 4wd and i fit a brand new bfg mud terrain 35/12.50/17 tire in the spare tire space. If the 2wd is like the 4wd, it will fit.

A lt 285/70/17 will fit. And the winch makes weight not a concern

Yes, actually you put two under there if desired..if you are a 4x4. Yea, that's besides the point.

ok thanks

It has what I believe to be the original fire stone 235 75 tire up never been on the truck still has the nubs and no marks from lug nuts. Pretty dry rotted though.

Right, I know a 33 fits easily. How close is the tail-pipe to a 35 ? That would be the only concern..must be alright if you had one under there.

Could be wrong but I would think the 2wd's even the SB's have just as much room.

The tire is about 2 or 2.5 inches from the exhaust pipe. There is lots of air flow around it and the exhaust pipe just isn't that hot at the back of the truck. The spare tire doesn't ever seem to get warm anytime that I've checked it.
