I guess time makes fools of us all. On the bright side it runs great.

Nothing foolish about buying something you can afford that runs well. I had an '81 Honda Civic that ran great, but had rust issues. I ended up cleaning up the rust as best I could, then painted the lowers and above the wheel wells with satin black Rustoleum to camouflage it. The car got me around until I could afford something better. It also taught me how to change a head gasket and that tipping a carburetor over isn't such a good idea.
