Long travel is badass, problem is that the main attraction here is mud; theres not many actual trails or places to flex. I already looked into that but im goin for more of a mud appeal.. or am i mistaken and a long travel 4wd can be useful? Hmm haha

You don't need 4wd in mud if you can go through it at 100mph!

Same here, I wish they would let us on the dunes, it would be great for a long travel suspension

So i did a little digging on cl and found a pair of dana 60's of a 250 sd.. im not worried about the front axle, but on the rear, will i need to remount the spring pads and shock mounts, or will it bolt right on?

You will probably have to re-do spring pads and shock mounts. The SD frame is wider and uses a wider leaf spring so the mounts will be different.

Thats pretty much what i figured wouldve been nice haha i guess ill just hold out for a front axle only since my rear is already a l.s. .. whats everyones opinion on a dana 44? Is that a sufficiently heavy duty enough axle?

A Dana 44 is what came in 4x4 F150s before they replaced it with the IFS 8.8. But if you plan on doing some hardcore wheeling you should look into a dana 60.

dana 44 was used up til 79. When ford switch in 81 they received the TTB44. If you plan on running bigger than 35 stick with D60's.
