Power it up with a vehicle OBii port or USB, go to device info, scroll to bottom of screen and should say device Unmarried. If it doesn't say that specifically, ( unlocks left 5 doesnt indicate if its currently locked or unlocked ) then its prob vin locked and costs $150 to get unlocked by SCT. Also make sure the serial number on back white sticker starts with xp and not x3. Older tuners started with x3 made before 2008 and prone to failures

So I am having trouble updating my firmware I loaded the sct software onto the computer and it takes me to a page saying connect device with several buttons on the left and then it can never did my device if I click automatically check for updates... Any ideas?
Got it had to update device drivers! Sometimes I amaze myself by my stupidity
Exactly what I did lol and tomorrow is ditto for me I will say this though go to the website and download the device update software and let it totally install first and foremost do not I repeat do not plug your tuner in until it is through it is a pain in the *** to figure but if you have issues hot me up on this and I will send you a link to the page that helped me....
