Default screwed in the pumpkin...

Well the fun continues...I went to replace my muffler today and noticed the notorious gear oil on the back of the tire. I went ahead and got two bearings and seals from advanced and dug into it. It was all going well until my buddy went to remove the 1/4'' bolt that holds the pin in that releases the axle shafts. Of course the POS snapped on him leaving about 2/3 of the bolt behind in the hole. I have tried a bolt extractor and its not budging. So my question is what are my options at this point? I could have a shop swap my axle or maybe replace the internals in the pumpkin but I would really rather avoid that if possible. Any suggestions are appreciated as Im at my wits end with this thing and have to drive it across the country at the end of the month.

My infinite wisdom would tell me to see how well this product does or doesn't work.

I cant get a good angle on the drill for the pilot hole which caused the easy out(bolt extractor) to break off in the drilled hole in the bolt. Im telling you we batted a 1,000 on this project everything has went to **** haha.

They make specific kits to aid in the removal of this broken bolt. A loooong drill bit to get the correct angle and the right size ez out or bolt extractor is the quickest and cheapest way to get it out.

Since you say the EZ out broke, did it brake flush? Can you weld a nut on it or grab it with a vice-grips? Drill out the ez out - probably have to buy a 20+ dollar drill bit.

Hindsight is 20/20 but I would have done this part myself as it's a common thing to break. I bet your friend feels like crap.

Bolt extractors never work as easily as they show in the videos. I've broken half a dozen of them. But they've also saved the day as often.

It will either break and you'll have to go to plan B, or it will get the bolt out.

The bolt broke off about a 1/4'' inside the hole it looks like the ez out broke off somewhat flush with the broken face of the bolt inside. My buddy went to the parts store and got the "kit" but it only had a small drill bit I will try a longer one tomorrow and a new ez out. Do you think the new bit will drill through the broken ez out? I told him not to worry about it he was just helpin me out by getting started on the exle while I welded up my exhaust. **** happens Ive been in his shoes trying to fix others peoples stuff to save them a dime and it costing me money I don't want that to happen cause it sucks whatever it ends up costing I'll suck it up and get it fixed.

You could also just drill the hole out and re-dye it.
