Default Rustproofing undercarriage?

So I have a 1997 F250 LD and I looked underneath the truck and realized that there are quite a few rust spots. The truck only has 112,700 miles on it. How would I go about rustproofing the truck? I'm a perfectionist and it is really bothering me. My grandfathers 2001 Chevy 1500 w/ 175k miles on it has less rust and he drives it through Idaho, Montana, Washington and Oregon all the time. At first I considered putting undercoating underneath it, but from what i've read that can actually make rust worse, so I began using vinegar to remove the rust, but it won't fully remove it and it's a very slow process.. Thanks.

Rust will happen no matter what.. that's why undercoating it is good because it prevents it for a while. It's going to happen one way or the other lol

Spray it with used motor oil

I'm not joking.

Spray on from advanceauto parts. If you order online then use a code from www.retailmenot.com you can save some cash. I ended up using about about 12 cans but it looks great. Use the cheap can.

The problem with the undercoat sprays is that eventually they flake and peel off. Oil will not. Also oil does not hold water, and you really don't need to do any prep to spray it on. Dust/dirt/grime will wick the oil onto the frame

Just buy some cans of black rustoelum spray paint. Should last quite a while. I just did it underneath my truck, made a world of difference.

Do places like O'Reilley's and Autozone carry Por-15? I've read about it, but it seems like it'll be a pain to apply. Any idea if I need more than one can?
