Default Rust prevention?

Does anyone have any tips or tricks or solutions to preventing rust? I wash the truck all the time but this winter is just to cold to do it as much as id like.

Oil on the inside of door seams and anywhere else that rusts.

Stay out of the salt. Don't drive in the rain.

Get undercoated.

Have a plan to buy a newer vehicle ever 5 years or so.

You'd think with the technology and stuff these days they would have made something that would prevent it

If you don't want a Ford truck to rust....put it in an air tight garage and leave it there for the duration of its life. Otherwise, it will rust.

Cosmoline.

Tackle is right; there's really no surefire way to completely prevent rust other than keeping your truck out of conditions that would cause it in the first place.

You could try Carwell or POR-15. I've had good experience with the latter.

Could give Amsoil Metal Protectant HD a try. It's lasting longer than Fluid Film ever did for me and it doesn't attract dirt like Fluid Film did either.

You guys that say oil the doors.... How exactly do you do this? Is it as simple as taking off the door panel and pouring a little oil of whatever quart bottle you have lying around down along the bottom? I'm talking a little bit like enough to give it a light coat and then soak up whatever comes out the door holes at the bottom? I would assume trying to stick something up the drain holes at the bottom of the door is not enough.

All I do is put some oil on a rag and run it along the bottom of the door seam on the inside. Provide a barrier from salt. Whether or not it actually works, it's hard to say...just something that I do. No removal of the door panel needed.
