If you gonna take the time to do it, might as well do it right. No one in the after market does it right. Function over form, and most aren't sturdy enough to hold up too long if your playing with the truck, especially with lights up top.

They will. You also have to realize how the cab and bed move around on their bushings. Frames torque pretty easily. Your standard 97-03 bed can move any direction up to nearly an 1/2' on a rough enough road. Something I learned real quick in high school watching my friends completely trash their roll bars. They are made for show, and when you start putting the added weight of lights up there, bad things happen. It's pretty thin wall tubing too. If you had the stuff to make it at your AG shop I'd say make one out of 2" .120 wall DOM. Easy to weld on and you can always send it off to be chromed. I haven't been out of high school very long but I did pay a lot of attention to physics and I'm kinda a mechanical engineering major...over time they will bend, shake and even completely come apart.
