how much do you think it will cost to get one made and chromed?

 

Depends on local fab shops and local chroming shops. Maybe $400 for everything, but it's a much better quality option than the cheaply made aftermarket ones.

anyone else have anything to say about a roll bar

 

It's all personal preference - If you like it go with it, I agree with zap - A custom fabbed one will stand out of the crowd of cheesy bolt on stuff, and about frame flex, I have dents on my cab from the bed hitting on nasty hill climbs and high speed spooky trails (that was before the rust) !

My buddie used to have an old one that was actually sturdy unlike the newer ones

 

That truck is effing great looking ! My personal opinion (like that matters) would be a black roll bar. I feel going cheesy would destroy the look of the truck.
