If I disconnect the battery will the cel reset faster. or should I just drive the truck around. a couple weeks ago patched up crack manifold and egr tube. both rusted bad. had cel code 0171 and 0174. Thanks

 

Fastest, = removing positive and negative cables then touching the cables together. This way you can reinstall right away... positive first of course.

Smaller capacitors can be safely drained from a cross out. This method crosses the KAM cap draining it pronto.

Second fastest, - pulling the PCM fuse. But you have to wait 10/15 minutes for the cap to drain.

Third and last, - pull the negative cable and again wait for the KAM cap to drain.


BTW - If you worked on the engine correctly you wouldn't have to worry about it. Since the first thing you do is disconnect the neg on the battery with these vehicles in most cases.

 

I just hit the reset option on my tablet to obd2 dongle.
