Default remote start

My wife bought a remote start system for my truck. She told them it is a 2009 and in fact it is a 1999. Should I be worried or is it about the same as far as wiring goes

Wiring won't be even close to be honest. Do not attempt to install until you have a chance to go to where she got it from and inquire about it, to be honest, even though I'm a mechanic, I'd still leave a remote start system up to a pro who does it day in day out. Just too much to go wrong.

The only thing you would have to worry about is if it is a factory remote start system. Those are a little more entailed and won't fit the 99 with one that fits the 2009. The systems are somewhat different. With an aftermarket system, it should be good to go.

Does your 99 have PATS? We've had this discussion a few times on here, and I've seen guys say they don't have it in their 99. I would think you would leave the PATS out, if your truck doesn't need it, and just bypass that part. The installers will know for sure. At least you will have that in the kit fitting the 2009. lol

Anyways, nice gift. Enjoy it. I do in my F150 here in Alaska.
