Rear Window Leak....Again. Let's Refresh.
Would it be any easier to just remove the exterior plastic surround and put a line of caulk at the seam where the glass meets the cab? Would this be an easier solution than removing the entire window? Or am I just being lazy?

The trim piece will not come off without either removing the glass first, or removing them together.
However, to reseal the glass, you do not need to remove the trim piece, only the glass.
It's MUCH easier, and less chance of breaking the glass, if you remove the trim and glass together, then seperate them once they are off of the truck.
The clear silicone will NOT come off of your paint. I could only shave the mess down as far as I could with a razor blade and leave it there. It still looks like crap.
All because my PO got lazy.

No.. To remove the trim piece, the glass needs to come out with it. And to remove the glass, you will need to reseal it.

well I stared the process of resealing my slider on a 2000 150 7700, I did notice that there seems to be a rubber gasket between the plastic outer housing and the cab...I havn't read any mention of this gasket, so I'm wondering if this is and original ford product or and aftermarket install.. I did also notice that on the top passenger side the gasket had fallen about 2 inches between the housing and the cab, although the leak that I have is directly behind the drivers seat
