according to Ford's WSM for your year F150, it is not necessary to wait to torque until vehicle weight is on the suspension, can all be done in the air

I checked my 2000 WSM and did find this for the 4x2. It's the only Note though. No mention for the other arms, 4x2 or 4x4.

Seems easy enough to recheck, just crawl under, loosen things, then retighten.

p.s. I think that this can be done while the truck is on the lift.

they preload differently on this vehicle?
isnt it better for the suspension if torqued while vehicle is on ground, regardless ?

Sounds like a case of to each their own...
The suspension guru's on YouTube indicate that proper preloading of upper control arms is done when vehicle is resting on ground, then torqued to specs.
lets not over think things, if ford says it doesn't need to be done that way then lets not worry about it

I just replaced all of my front end parts. I did everything in the air and everything seems fine. No one said anything when I got it aligned.

My 2001 manual also says nothing about preloading.
