Problem Idling, Stalling...
I have a 99 F-150 with about 185,000 miles on it. I have had it since March and put about 6k miles on it. I'm 17, but don't drive it to hard. We havn't had any problems yet and its in great shape, the past owner sounded like he also took good care of it.
ANYWAYS, my problem..when I got out of work today and tried to start it, it started went to about 1200 RPM as usual then dropped to 200rpm and paused a second then stalled. I tried five times then waited a few minutes and tried again and it worked fine. I drove home fine, then I waited four hours to try to start it, and I started it, it went to 1200RPM then 200, then it revved itself to 2k and was fine.
What do you think the problem is? Some people have said, possible idle switch, injectors, fuel pump, or fuel filter.
Thanks, I am sure some of yall have had this problem.

I would be looking at the Idle Air Control Valve as well. That controls the engine at idle when there is no throttle input.
By curiosity, when it starts to act up, put your foot on the gas(not hard). See if it runs constant at whatever rpm you hold it at, and then let off. If it wont act up while your foot is on the gas, and start acting up after you let off then i'd say that the IAC valve is getting sticky or is having issues on the electrical side. Chances are it got gunked up considering it has higher miles and i am sure it is the original ford part.
Hope this helped.

You can get one at most parts stores for around 50 bucks. Before you buy one though, I would try taking yours off and flush the valve end real good with some throttle body cleaner. While your at it, might as well spray the throttle body out too! Goood Luck

Well its doing it again, :/
And this time I can't get it to work...Yea when I hold the gas it keeps the rpms, but if its at 4k right when I let go it stalls...
I'm only 17, how do I get to and or clean IAC, EGR, and the Throttle body? Your help would be very much appreciated!
Oh, all my dummy light bulbs work but its not throwing any off.

Remember to take careful note of where things go when you're taking them apart.

Mine is doing the same thing. I am running a can of Seafoam thru the gas tank and it seems to be helping. If it does not completely correct the problem by the end of this tank. I will try cleaning the TB.
