Default power steering issue

So the important information first. 2002 Ford F150 Scab 4 2 v6. Ive been having problems with power steering. Replaced a line and pump just for the pulley to snap. Reviews on orielly say they have a bad shaft. Im sure i wont have too much of a problem with replacement. I did drain system of power steering atleast i thought reservoir empty and new line and pump. Read the box for warranty.

First question can the steering gearbox be tighten down judging by picture or does it need to be replaced.

Second question should I replace my idler pulley or is the power steering the only issue?

seen a few with issues similary to mine. Power steering in general. Thanks for any info

You cant adjust the gear box itsel. Is your steering loose or what's the problem?

im asking is it loose or broken. I havent had power steering since i bought the truck months ago. Drove just fine granted hard steering then one day battery light came on. My power steering pulley snapped off. Now again my pulley has snapped off again after a new serpentine belt And power steering pump.

So my question is whats snapping my power steering pulley? Broken steering Gearbox? Bad pulley? Bad pump? Bad idler pulley?

I have heard of bad idler pulleys causing the power steering pulley to snap from stress. I would into it. Also was your old surpentine stretched or did you just replace as maintenance?

The old belt and pulley were lost on the road. Thats all the info I needed really. Just going to order a steering gearbox off ebay and new idler from auto parts store. Almost every part im pulling off says motorcraft so doesnt look like they keep up with maintenance at all.

Are you talking about the gap here? That is a tapered assembly, so if it is not loose, then you should be fine. Personally, I would also get rid of that Fram filter ASAP.

Get your auto parts store to price match a motorcraft filter. You will be able to get it a few bucks cheaper than the fram without a price match.

i have a spare motorcraft but amazon sent me a 400s motorcraft filter instead of 500. Do they both work?

Almost always that thing needs to be cut out of there, or mutilated to get it out. With this arm in particular, I am of the opinion that if you remove it, replace it. Use something decent though.... Moog or Motorcraft.
