Torque the plugs down to about 28' lbs or 1/2 - 3/4 turn after seat. Then post up what your using in the crank case and what's filtering it.
sounds good, that's around my skill set. And when you say what do I use in the crankcase do you mean what oil am I using or do I have any treatments in it? Or something else?

Yeah, it could be a warped exhaust manifold. Remove the manifold and check it's flatness. You could also use soap & water to detect the leak in the exhaust manifold when the engine is cold.

You should not hear any valve train noise unless there is a vacuum & exhaust leak. SOUND NEEDS AIR TO TRAVEL

Ummm....the valve cover resonates it from the air inside to the air outside.

You can use a broomstick handle or auto stethescope on the valve cover to see if you can better ID the source.

Ok guys it's definitely the exhaust manifold, passenger side. Good thing is the nuts don't look too awfully rusted. I think the sound that people thought was a lifter is actually something in the a/c system, as it only happens when a/c is on. I'll have to do some research on that. Thanks for all the help everyone. Hopefully I can find some time where I don't need the truck for a day or two to get this done.
