Default Performance Mod Question

I am looking to make my exhaust a bit deeper and even louder while adding some hp. I have a catless Borla system now. Will headers work well for me and should I even bother with shorties? How difficult are these to install? Thanks in advance.

Long tubes for HP. Being catless is hurting you. Get a couple highflows.

How am I supposed to tell you the difficulty? It will be difficult if your tools and knowledge go no farther than this:

Well, Its more for sound. My cats were going bad anyway so I took them out. I know this truck wont ever be "fast" without serious money that a college student wont be paying for at this time. haha.

They go a bit further than that I suppose. I was looking for constructive info like " will take 9 hours" or "will need to pull heads or engine" things like that. If thats the case then I will not be attempting it alone. If i can just jack it up and bolt it on then I would consider that not very difficult and it could be done by just myself and a friend.

Would shorties produce the same sound quality as long tubes?

I've heard mixed feedback on the 5.4 header install. When I installed long tubes in my 4.6 cobra, I had to drop the K-member and I vowed to never install another set of header that required that much effort.

Yeah, thats kind of what I was worried about. Ive heard about installs on mustangs a lot but never on a f150 which is why I am apprehensive. I appreciate your feedback.

It will take between 2-48 hours. Seriously. Tons of variables.

Big time wasters would include broken studs and wrong tools/missing tools.

If you're going for good sound, put highflow cats on as I suggested. Catless=***. If you want loud and obnoxious I'm not the guy to ask.

Its a borla. Sounds great catless. I just want it deeper. Obviously its loud, but not obnoxiously loud. Much quieter than most i come across. Borlas are quiet.

Okay... assuming one has all necessary tools and knowledge is more what i wanted to know. Highflow cats are expensive and it would be too much trouble to have them welded in especially when i dont like them.
