How so? Its an open air filter compared to a closed one. If that was the case wouldn't off roaders run CAI and not snorkels? It's logic my friend

logic is that if you have water above your fenders, its going through your stock intake or a CAI regardless.

True, but the argument is that if water splashes into that area the k&n is worse than factory.

All your doing is pulling hot air all the time which would be verifiable with any sort of scanner. I myself will never use a K&N. Even when they have very little oil on them it still finds a way thru the filter and gets in the MAF.

I'd like to hear if anybody else has different recommendations but would also like to hear from the guys that own one of those two brands. Any issues? Is the fit stable? Pics would also be great. I notice one "blocks" the engine heat and the other has a full box over the filter any thoughts.

Go K&N, you can never go wrong. I have one on my 03 f150 xlt supercab and love it, makes the engine roar, helps with throttle response and gives the truck much more umph. Costed me around $300 and an hour and a half of labor. Do it!

And will kill a MAF with oil and cause poor performance, kill fuel economy, and generally isnt better than a Gotts mod and a drop in dry element filter. Hey look the money you could save would pay for a tuner which will do more for the butt dyno than a hot air intake.
