Yes, fix the source. Once you get the Gem out you might be able to let it dry out and reuse it. Windshield will run you $150-200 to get sealed.

Make sure to let us know what you find out.

Ill certainly keep you updated. I just looked under the dash with a flashlight and saw a decent amount of surface rust, so obviously there is moisture under there.

Any good tips on how to take the GEM out? Im trying to find videos online but cant find much.

Alright so I got the bottom of the dash torn apart. The fusebox and GEM are loose and it feelts like I can pull it out from behind the dashboard. There are alot of wires back there obviously and im a little nervous about just forcing it out. Took a few pictures, how much wire connectors run to the GEM? Do I need to unhook a few of the couplers to make this easier?

Push the fuse box down and out of the way. You can unplug those harnesses.

I believe there are two connectors on the GEM.

So I can unhook the fusebox from the GEM as it sits, then be able to pull only the GEM out from under the dash correct?

BTW, this sucks... Im too big to be crawling under the dashboard.

After alot of F bombs I finally got it out. Havnt found any corrossion or signs of water damage, anything else I should be looking for other than corrossion?

Also is there a way to test the module while its off the truck?

If you don't see any corrosion or water spots/where it's been wet, I'd blow it out with an air compressor if you have one. Also blow out the fuse box, front and back.

I know it sucks, but now you have to put it back in and see if it works.

Well I sprayed all the electical down with electrical cleaner and re installed the fuse box and module. It fired right up and ran fine, hooked up my programmer and the P1260 code was gone, but I did have the battery unhooked for a couple hours. I left the dash tore apart and took some trim off right next to the windshield, supposed to get alot of rain and snow the next couple days and im gonna monitor any leaks or moisture getting in.

And if there is no leaks, I suppose the GEM could just be on its way out and needs replacing?
