Default p0122 throttle position sensor code

Just got my 1997 f1540 4.6 4x4 back after my guy did alot of work....intake gaskets, plugs, all hoses, master cyl,all rear brakes and em. cable....etc.Now driving it home it sputters/surges in overdrive(where its most noticeable..) and threw a p0122 code when I restarted after a gas stop(with pressure in the tank when taking off cap...???) The sputtering/chugging would seem to be related to code for a throttle position sensor...should I just replace it or should I look somewhere else?....thanks

I would first make sure it's connected good and the harness is in good shape. If all that checks out I would replace tps.

Is there a "wrong way" to install the tps?Seems there is a tang on the inside that should line up with the one that came out.....

Those usually will only come out with a little 1/4" impact. Without an impact, they'll strip right out. In the past, I've been able to get a small pair of needle nose vise grips on the screw head enough to break them loose.

Sizes, -

5mm, - the heads are 7mm, - in bolt head form, the thread/shaft is 5mm. Personally, I use COP bolts to secure the TPS, -

By the way, here's a better bolt to replace those with, -

http://www.ebay.com/itm/25-M5-0-8-x-20mm-JIS-Hex-Head-Flange-Bolt-Small-Head-Class-10-9-Zinc-/400762504560?hash=item5d4f4e8570&vxp=mtr
If you do, (and that's the exact size you need) just don't over tighten them. They only require light torque and that bolt I posted will go in snug, - meaning you may not be able to run it in all the way with your fingers. That said, - light torque is all you need and she'll stay.

I believe that length will work, - I'll confirm it later today, - it may be 30mm.

tps installed(after drilling out top screw..) A trick I used on the bottom tps screw was to take a soldering gun to heat up the locktite and the screw came right out.The tps took care of the sputtering/shifting and cel code.
