I just don't like the fact that soon enough clearance lights won't mean anything to anyone... And people won't know what it is supposed to mean when they see them cuz they are on everybodys car sized pick up...

They are to throw up a flag to all motorists that there is a plus sized vehicle over 80" wide approaching...

You should be pulled over and ticketed by the DOT for throwing up a false warning...
Thanks A7X for all your input. It all makes perfect sense! I like them for the "cool look" but if that's the law then that's the law. I just wish the law would enforce the illegal headlights out there as well!

Yeah I can't stand the ridiculous headlights either haha, I have the Sylvania ultra whites but they're aimed in a friendly manner... No HID stuff goin on though, if they're projected or aimed nicely they ain't bad but a lot of people just wash the whole world out in daylight in front of em lol

Yeah nobody is stoppin the cab light on stock 1/2 ton thing, but just thought I should throw some points out on what they're about cuz people forget or aren't informed on what they're for... The other thread on this subject got a little out of hand haha oh well

Haha, yeah, its tough debating over the internet with no tone of voice to show that I'm totally calm about it... If I was worked up it would be all asterisks lol

I didn't know they were meant for 80in+ vehicles, I thought they just were meant to make vehicles more visible

I'd actually thought of getting some myself, I want my vehicle to be very visible so drunken (or not so drunken) idiots are less likely to want to jaywalk or other things right into me

Probably not then

Actually only the three in the center are to indicate a vehicle over 80" in width. The outside 2 are clearance marker lights. And if you regularly tow a wide (over 80") trailer it wouldn't hurt you to have them, but ifyou like them put them on plenty of SRW 3/4 tons have them

Yes the three in the middle indicate the vehicle is over 80" and the two outside mark how wide over 80" visually
