Ya, I almost did not put the lights on because I did not want to drill any holes in the roof. My dad did mess up too and theres an extra hole, but he filled it with some rubber glue stuff and some paint. My truck is tall so no one ever sees the roof so its fine.

It is stealing the safety signal as warning from the larger trucks on the road, making the clearance lights a dress up flashy thing instead of a warning to other motorists like it is meant to be...
Does the "law" only apply while towing? Towing trailers would classify as having the width just not on the truck itself? I am not arguing just looking for the clarification of the law. Is the law the same for all 50 states?

It is Federal law and enforced by the DOT. The auto makers have to comply with these laws to push their vehicles down the assembly line and into your garage... It applies if your vehicle is 80"+ wide not including mirrors or if the trailer you are towing is 80"+ wide and the F250 Super Duty is capable of pulling something like that so it is an option if you plan on doing so...

Look at the raptor at 86.3" wide... They got away with the clearance lights as such, 3 in the grille and one way out on the fender on either side in a like layout of the Super Dutys... They did this to comply with Federal law as it is over 80" wide, not to look cool...

They ain't factory on the Super Dutys, my dad's 2001 F250 4x4 don't have them. You have to order them.
As to having them on F-150's i think if it sits high enough it looks good, but throwing lights all over like a Peterbilt is pretty poser. Just dont over do em lol

They aren't screwed in but I think this is where I want em. Maybe this will stop some of the people completely against cab lights on f150s

I'm not against em, I have them on my F150... But I am required to have them because of the width...

And you look like you are as well, what do you measure at the tires in width? About 84" at the widest point??

Workin this on two different clearance light threads haha...

I just don't like the fact that soon enough clearance lights won't mean anything to anyone... And people won't know what it is supposed to mean when they see them cuz they are on everybodys car sized pick up...

They are to throw up a flag to all motorists that there is a plus sized vehicle over 80" wide approaching...

You should be pulled over and ticketed by the DOT for throwing up a false warning...
