Default Over Head Console Fix

My overhead console didnt work so I decided to fix it today and since I was already fixing it I figured id do a quick write up for anyone else that may need it..

So first off heres my non working console

First thing to do is look between the display and rear view mirror and remove the phillips head screw..

Now look in the rear compartment you should have two clips you need to pry down to fully release the console.. mine happened to be broke and some one ran screws in to hold it up..

Now just unplug the wires.. theres a small tab on the side of the plug you need to push in and pull the plug out..

Now you can take the console inside

Next remove the 4 T10 screws holding the display in

After you pull the Display out there will be 2 tabs on each side you need to pull out to get to the circuit board

Once you get the plastic apart lift the circuit board out and this is what youll be left with..

Okay now you should see 5 resistors on the board these are what you need to be looking at, check for bad connections as you can see mine was pretty easy to spot haha

You need to solder any bad connections you find.. Im not going to go into how to solder because honestly if you dont know how this isnt something to learn on.. although if your resistor isnt completly gone it should be easier to fix than mine..

As you can see i struggled with mine of course im not an expert at soldering ive only done it 2 or 3 times before..

Now go plug it in to make sure it works before reinstalling everything..

It works!! so now just reinstall everything in reverse order..

And there you go.. Now you should have a fully functional overhead console...

Do you know if a non overhead console truck will support one? Can you tell from being inside yours that the temp sensor and compass are up there or is it too big of a deal to fool with?
