Default over drive

I have a 2002 f150 xlt super cab 4.6 liter 4x4 I disconnected the battery I was changing my fuel filter
after I was done reconnected the battery now the overdrive light does not come on when I push it in. I disconnected the battery so I would not have any problems what would of cause that?
Thanks in advance Ralph

That is a strange problem. My suggestion would be to leave the battery disconnected all night to power cycle the electronics and reconnect it in the morning and see what happens.

Please report any solution please.

Does the switch still function even though it doesn't light up?

It could if the light is out you can tell by looking at the rpms the shift points shift at a higher rpm when over drive is off.

Fuel filter is beside the tranny, did you accidentally disconnect a wire to your trans?

I had a suspicion it might have been a fuse... Do you have auto lights, perchance?
