Default Outside temp

I have a 1997 f150 XLT and it does not have an outside temp readout. Has anyone put one in or anyone have any ideas on how to do this? Could I take one out of any wrecked vehicle, or is there a certain one that will work? Or would it be easier to simply buy after market?j

It can be done. With the overhead console.

Honestly, not worth it IMO. Unless you have wayy to much time on your hands.
I have a phone widget that gives me the current temp as well as future temps. Much more sophisticated.

You could, though most people who do it to the 97-98's use one out of the explorers. Others can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the 97-98's could not come with the overhead temp. console from the factory.

Just buy an ambient temp
Sensor from an auto parts store and connect it to your overhead.

I think you would have to pillage a vehicle with one in it. 97/98 didn't come with an overhead harness. At least not the 150's afaik. Yea, as mentioned, the Explorers or whatnot. You would think the 98/99 Navigators or Expeditions would have more of a plug and play harness or one that would be easy to adapt. Find one of those vehicles at the salvage yard and go to town..

BTW, -I haven't done that myself, - so that's all just theoretical more less.
