What oil should I use in my '00 5.4l. It's got 194,000 km. I'm not sure if I should use synthetic or regular oil. Thanks guys.

My 2 cents - Always go with Synthetic, regardless of mileage. It's what Ford is putting in the new vehicles and it has a longer lifecycle than conventional. Downside - $$$$

if your motor leaks or burns oil dont use synthetic!!! it will burn it and leak it way faster then any other oil. use a good high milage oil and a bottle of lucas oil stabilizer. and fyi the reason ford uses synthetics in there new trucks is because the oil pumps and motors them selfs were desighned do use it. our trucks werent so thats not really a good comparison.

I have a 2000 5.4 f150 with 78k miles, bought used with 64k miles. I just use a non synthetic as previous owner did but change it every 3k miles. Runs great and just passed california smog and does not burn any oil.

Anybody have any thoughts on using Slick 50 or something like that? I recently purchased an '03 5.4 with 103,000 miles. Due for it's first oil change since I bought it and wondering if that would be a good idea.

I use Moible 1 Extended Preformance Synthetic on my 2002 4.6 with a mere 165000 miles and cost isnt bad from autozone picked up the oil and filter for 35 bucks. Synthetics the only way to go up here in northern maine makes starting the engine in -30 or lower temps real easy.
