Default New motor swaps

So since I had a head gasket go out and now have something else I can drive around daily in, just wondering what kind of motor swaps you guys have done with your f150's. Just throwing out the idea since I'm in no rush right now to either fix the gasket or do a new motor.

Nobody has done any kind of a motor swap on these trucks. Just looking for ideas and brands of engines.

I've seen a 460 swapped, seen a 5.0 coyote swapped.

What are you looking to do? Be legal or no?

I've seen several coyote's done in mustangs but they are still far away from plug and play. If that's the type of swap you want, search through Mustangforums.com or better yet Corral.net. Anything 96-04 mustang conversions will translate more directly to our Gen F150's.

Most of this article applies to F150's as well.

I would swap in a high compression 5.4 4v with cams. It would make decent power an a bunch of torque.

Here is my take on engine swaps as it applies to vehicles that already have a V8 in them i.e. F-150's, Mustang, Camaro and the like With exception to older vehicles that are not so heavily electronic.

It is almost always easier and more cost efficient to build a high horsepower engine using the platform that came in your vehicle vs. trying to get the same power out of swapping a different engine in. Example: your F-150 came with a 5.4, there really is nothing you could swap into it that would produce more power, reliability, and driveability than what you could do spending equal, and in most cases, less than what you would have to put out for the swap.

Find a Lightning take out. I bought one in 09 for $4750 shipped. Came from a 2003 with 32K miles. It included everything from the airbox to the cats. And a lot of other parts. That i ended up selling to help pay for it.

Thanks for the replies guys keep up the ideas. I'm looking to stay with a v8 but nothing really over the top I still would like to be able to drive it on the street, to take me fishing and haul things with it. Since I have a another car for a daily driver I'm in no rush so I can take my time and put together something descent but not too expensive.

I went down the 4v route when I first got my truck but after some problems with my machine shop and the motor sitting here for months, I decided to keep the 2v.

Stock heads, MHS Torquer cams, LT's and a bit more compression should do everything I want it to. If not, I'll add a Lightning blower.

I could Overland with stock Hp but my biggest concern is how well it tows my boat and my next project car. :0) When I put on the 35's it's really going to turn into a turd box.
