Default New GEM module

Got the new module installed today. Will be sealing my front windshield ASAP! That was a heck of a job for such a small thing. I know now why Ford charges so much to do it. Big thanks to ibd2328 for all his help

Good job! Mine was about to go out, but I think I got my windshield sealed in time - I hope! Heater fan would just come on by itself while truck was parked! How long did it take you?

About 2 hours. My biggest problem was I was scared I was going to break something. It's a tight squeeze getting that fuse box out. Once you have it out its a breeze going together. Ibd2328 told me you just kinda gotta give it a good tug push and pull out of there.

Thanks, Tackle! You remember my question way back! Yeah, I try to keep it inside garage now, and kept it inside until I could get the windshield resealed. Cost $140.00 for reseal, and so far, no more strange GEM (generic electronic module for those like me who are acronym disabled) issues. I'm liking me truck more and more, even though I've had it over 5 years now! Two more payments, I'll have me title! Note to self: stay away from new trucks!

So you just unplug it and plug the new one in? Is it that simple?

Besure to inspect your fuse boxes. Where the wire harness plugs in.If you see any corrosion, replace it. I've seen a few of them cause bigger problems down the road.

Yes. Just use your old harness but like he said check them to make sure there good. As long as you use the original harness you don't have to have it programmed

That's a negative on that one, replaced my gem about 3 years ago, and that's all I replaced, had to take the truck to the dealer to program it to my truck, other wise it was down the road for a couple hundred yards and then a shutdown occurred, still cheaper than having them do it all. Saved me about 600 over dealer cost.
