Default New Engine - No Fire

We just put a new engine in a 98 Expedition. Not getting fire to the plugs. We've checked everything in the book with no luck and changed the Camshaft Pos. Sensor.

Can you get codes on the OBDII trucks without the engine running? I know with OBDI, there are engine off and engine running tests. Same thing with OBDII?

the truck does not have to be running or started but the key does have to be in the on position.

Well, no codes are present. Seems it may not be getting fuel or fire. Although when we spray starting fluid in the intake it does try to hit. Changed the crank sensor, but when we test for AC voltage from it we get nothing. Also, the fuel pumps aren't running as we try and crank it. From what i'm told that's a sign that there is no signal from the crank sensor.

We're going to remove the AC compressor and see if we can see in there good enough to see the striker, or missing tooth............whatever the crank sensor is supposed to see.

As much as it pains me to say this........the sensor gear is not in there. Apparently that's something that needed to be swapped over from the old engine. Ughhhhh..............gotta love it!

Well, that was the problem. Everything is back together and running great. Lesson learned.
