Default need some help please

looking to buy a new truck.
this past thursday i was on my way to get new tires and there was a ba snow storm. i roled and totaled my 99 f150. looking to get a new one.

found a 1997 reg cab short bed with a 6" BDS lift on 35" tires.

guys says it needs a few coil packs, all new shocks, and the spider gear on the right side of the read end went bad.

truck has a little rust being an ohio truck

my questions for you guys is have any of you had the spider gear problem before and how much did it cost to fix? and how much would you guys pay for this truck?

thanks!

Especially with the rust. Bad as it may seem on the outside, the rust you can't see could be even worse. With it being a 17 year old truck, who knows how bad it could be.

Tires and lift alone are worth more than a grand. I'd say he's looking for $2500.

Don't low ball him with $800. I'd say heck no, get off my lawn.

Maybe you need a car.

I have to agree with Tackle. That truck is worth 2 grand minimum. Add in the fact it's 4x4 with the 5.4. Low miles lift and tires. If you offer him 2500, you're getting an amazing deal. Rust is rust. It's going to happen. Take a good look on the drivers side quarter panels, and cab corners. If it's bad, haggle over the price. If it's just surface rust, give him 2500 and walk away with a brand new truck. If you offer him 800 bucks, I hope he laughs in your face and tells you to take a hike. You're buying a truck, not a honda civic.

As for parts, shocks can wait till you have money. Coils, it's probably only one, maybe two that are having issues. so that's only 100 bucks. The only big thing is the rear gears, which if you do yourself, won't be that much. A couple hundred. So for 500 bucks including shocks, that'll put you at 3000 for a good quality truck.
