Default need some help with cams

Duration 275/275, Lift .580/.580. what dose that mean

Sorry...I just remember the days when I asked the same stuff...more or less laughing at myself.

The .580 lift is how much the valve is being lifted off the seat. THe lift on the cam is actually less than that, then with the 'ratio' of your follower will give you your actual valve lift. In this case, 580 thousandths of an inch. Basically just a hair over half of an inch.

Now the Duration is how long the cam is holding the valve open. Your motor rotates 360* (degrees) in a circle. And of that 360*, the valve on the intake and exhaust is being hung open for 275* of that...obviously at different times for the compression and exhaust and intake strokes of the motor.

Numbers are usually intake being the first number, then exhaust in case you run into a split pattern camshaft...

lol this hole motor thing is a learning thing for me lol its my first one so what dose that do for me hp wise

would i have to change valves or spring or rockers with a cam like this ?

thats a pretty big cam as far as lift...but then again I am used to 32V cams.

I am pretty sure you need springs with this camshaft.

Who makes it. Comp? Hitech? Crower?
