Drove my truck fine this morning and now I went to start it and dash lights up and shows good battery level but no start. Can start off starter soliold under hood but I think my starter went out. What's your opinion, I was just about to go out of town.

no i'm leaning towards the wiring harness because you said the solinoid will start the truck so that leads me to believe your wiring has got an issue somewhere in order to give power to the solanoid to start the truck what i would do is just go ahead and take the starter off and bench test it before you bought a new one most autozone's/parts stores have a benchtester

You can test the starter by hammering it a lil bit with a hammer just give it a couple hard taps not to hard tho.

problem isn't that tho cause that only works if the solinoid is sticking and won't start the truck but he already said he was able to start the truck with a screwdriver by bypassing the wiring but yes that is a good way to check it if your truck won't start and you don't hear your starter engage your flywheel

Its the solenoid on the firewall that is bad. If it starts by jumping the two terminals on that solenoid its bad.
