I have a 99 XLT with the 4.6. Im looking to put on an aftermarket muffler to give it some more sound. Was looking at flowmaster and wanted to know if there is a noticeable difference between the original 40 series and the super 44. Thanks.

I have a 40 on my F-150 (5.4) and a 44 on my old Chevy (4.3-v6). The 44 is louder then the 40, but not as loud as the 10 series. I wanted a 44 on my Ford, but a buddy of mine had some 40's laying around so I bought that and I'm extremely happy with my choice. The 44's are nice for making noise, but the drone is terrible. The 40 sounds awesome when you jump on the throttle, but it's quiet when you're on the highway. The 44 is loud all the time, and after half an hour on the highway, I'm sick of listening to it.

Super 40's sounds like all the regular/lifted trucks on the road( deep, not too loud, not too mean) but the 44 has more of a mean aggressive tone especially when you start hittin the higher rpms, i know cuz i have a 44 and my brother has the 40
