Post MPG Help...

I get anywhere from 12-14 MPG with my 2003 F150 4x4 with the 5.4 V8... Anyone have any tips to get better MPG?? I havn't changed my fuel filter, spark plugs, transmission fluids, and pretty much anything other than my oil and brakes...

should any of these improve mpg? and if i get 22 inch rims with low profile tires would this make it worse?

how much would a programmer help? any???

MPG is what it is. I mean you could get it a little more maybe a mile or so... just by maintenence... ur real gas saver is how u drive... i drive 10 miles an hour faster then my friend and he gets 13 and i get 15 and we both have 4.6 v8... the trick is how fast u take off from lights... Why shoot all that gas into ur engine at once? also depending where u get ur gas. how much ethanol is in it.

There really isnt anything that you can buy/upgrade to give you a sure fire 17mpg.

Some up what i said... Keep up ur maintenence... Watch what gas you get... dont be rambo taking off at lights.

how many miles are on this engine, giving it a tune up will help, using synthetic oils, DRIVING SLOWER!!!, 22" wheels will hurt both mileage and braking as these wheels weigh substantially more than 16 or 17's, a cold air intake, free flowing exhaust and a custom tune should help quite a bit. oh yea, use oe plugs not fancy dancy ones

Not to sound like a jerk....but lets see here. 6,000lb truck-5.4L engine-shaped like a box-God couldn't make these get good MPG.

What is your gear ratio? When I went from 3.55's to 4.30's my mileage went up 2 mpg

i think they are 3.55's. im going to be going up from 31.5" tires to 33.2" tires, will that make any difference? would it be worth the money spent to change my gears?

I'm gonna guess you'll lose 1 mpg. If ronpn4x is right about the gaining 2 mpg then I'm gonna say YES.
