Just go into home depot or lowes. Its basically paint stripper but look in the painting section for it. Just be very careful with your taping around the badge. I used q-tips because the can get into everything. It takes time but looks great.

Will the acetone eat your paint if not taped off correctly?

The letters and numbers are stock chrome already. Unless yours have been painted.

Yea, thats exactly what your doing to the badges is removing the paint. I used painters tape around the badges and then a towel taped to the tap. It wont take the paint of just from the touch but if it sits there it will take it. It takes a while to take the black off. It probably took me an hour to do all three.

well my badges have faded so i planned on either blacking then out or painting them and then this, i have seen people who used VHT nightshade on emblems. i wonder if i chromed them completely with the acetone and then use night shade and some clear coat if it would look like blacked chrome, like if the chrome color would shine through somewhat

Yea its worth a try. Kinda like a black chrome. Ive seen it before on different chrome pieces. If you dont like it you can just remove it with more acetone haha
