Default Mods due to damage

Hit a deer last night going 60 and messed up the whole front end of my truck. Had to have a friend come out and hook a chain to pull my bumper to pull it out from the tire. Need new bumper, valance, grill, grill surround, one headlight for sure, and a new drivers fender. Anyone know how it works with the insurance if I want to get lightning heads and corners instead of just one new factory headlight?
The deer didn't even twitch when it hit the ground so it got what it deserved but I would have gladly put it out of its pain with my shotgun if it didn't die, stupid f ing deer.
Any mods I should consider doing now since the whole front end will be redone?

Pretty sure insurance will only replace factory pieces unless you had other things covered. I know with my insurance company, if I wanted something replaced that wasn't stock, I have to have them cover it and they will only do so after I provide proof that I purchased it previously. Although, I suppose it depends on your insurance company. Only way to know for sure is to call them and ask.

As for upgrades... retrofit projectors (into whatever housings you choose), get HIDs, switchback LED markers (which will require resistors or a new flasher (check advance auto parts, 'tis where I got mine)), a nice replacement grille (I'm partial to the upward flames design on our trucks personally, but that's because my truck was formerly my grandfather's, who was a founding member of his fire company)... I can't think of anything else. I personally wouldn't go aftermarket with your bumper or anything. They look stupid, and generally have you lose your front tow hooks. After having to get my truck towed home one night, I can testify to their usefulness.

If your fog housing(s) are damaged, go for some "euro clear" depot housings (you can retrofit projectors into them too, if I'm not mistaken).

I'm glad you and your truck (overall) are ok though.

Just have them issue you the check and make the repairs yourself. That's what I do.

I'd do a black billet grille or a lightning grille to go with the lights. For fogs I wouldn't recommend projectors because its a tight pattern and doesn't spread like you'd want, for a few dollars more than depot fogs you can fit 6" LED light bars in the fog light holes and get a ridiculous amount of output that will match a set of retrofits with 6000k bulbs.

All that light is from just my fogs

As for the insurance deal you'll probably have to get an estimate to fix it "as is" then add the difference of the new parts. But I'd document the new parts so you can get them fixed if it happens again.

It's your truck, insurance can't make you do anything after they write the check, but on the flip side if you cannot show proof you made repairs they will not cover the same damaged areas if you're involved in another accident. So upgrade till you run out of money!!

I haven't decided yet. I don't know if a billet one will look good or not and if my lights will shine through very well

Last wreck I was in we had the insurance company cut us a check (not my company though) did the repairs necessary and had like $1000 left over. That bought me rancho shocks and struts for my 07 and could've gone farther if I didn't have classes I need to pay for over summer.
