Default Missfire issue

I have had a lot of problems with my 2001 f 150 5.4. My current problem is brining no ses light but my fuel mileage is horrible but have had to recently replace the cyl 2 coil for the second or third time and the mechanic said there is antifreeze in the cylinder? And I have read a lot about the gaskets leaking on these trucks so any opinions?

How horrible is your mileage? Misfire would contribute to it.

You're mechanic can't figure it out? I'd find a new mechanic.

Well is only 105 miles to almost 3/4's of a tank bad? And it runs smooth as hell. Had a misfire before replacing coil and a lean code as well. He reset it and no light yet.

Next time I fill up I will but that doesn't seem right to me at all and plus with having to replace that coil three times already something has to be causing the antifreeze in the cylinder

Well the coil has NOTHING to do with coolant in your cylinder. Like it was said before, and you said you're going to do, you need to actually calculate your fuel mileage.

Besides the mileage, coolant in the cylinder could be a blown head gasket or a cracked head... BUT you should probably get a second opinion aside from your previous mechanic. He may be blowing smoke up your ***!

Ya but it could cause it to misfire and blow out coil after coil. Could it be intake gaskets?

I would think if you had a blown head gasket or cracked head you could expect severely fouled plugs and possibly blowing out a plug cause water doesn't compress. But I wouldn't think that it would cause a coil to go bad, the coils are attached to the outside end if the spark plugs...

The first time I changed them I realized there was a little moisture in the cylinders, but didn't think anything of it until now after having to replace the coils this many times? An a blown head gasket or cracked head would cause water on the oil.

I'm confused if you mean 105 miles with 3/4 tank of fuel left or 1/4 tank left (using 3/4 tank.) if the former, you're averaging 13mpg, that's what I get with mine, all the time, any time, no matter how I drive. 13 even. 105 at 3/4 mark, 160 at half. I check my mpg every tank. Reset the tripometer every time. Always fill the tank.

Drives me nuts that is all I get. Has 160k on the drivetrain though. Going to start replacing stuff when it warms up. Hasn't had a tuneup since 70k. Even then it was just plugs. Plugs now are pretty narly looking.
