Default Lets talk coils

this has probably been covered here before but I'll do it again. I have been wanting to change my coils and spark plugs but at the same time I want to upgrade, I was thinking accel coils and E3 plugs but most people say motorcraft oem are the best. Is this really true, and if so why? who here has used a aftermarket COP and plugs, how well do they work? there is such a large aftermarket for the 5.4 I find it hard to belive that the factory parts are the best option

silver and gold are better conductors, a lot of the high end industrial motor controls I work with are made of silver and gold due to its conductivity and heat properties

I used the e3 plugs and had the electrode fall out of one at around 15000 miles.

1 I had the same problem with E3 but it only took a week and it was in my lawn mower. 2 Copper, silver, gold. Aint gonna mater much with the voltage involved and the short distance a wet noodle would work just as well. Bubbabud

i have a bad coil right now, maybe even two... but at 100k miles i mine as well change all the coils and plugs while im at it. however coils from advanced auto are $50 a piece! i found some online that are $89 for a set of 8. for that price ever if they dont last as long i can get 5 sets

Accel coils are garbage, at least one out of 8 is usually bad out of the box, and often are intermittantly bad which can be a huge headache when you're trying to find a miss. The only aftermarket coils I've heard of that don't get many complaints and people seem to actually like are Weapon X.

E3 plugs aren't any cheaper than Motorcraft and have a lot of problems, so you're much better off going with Motorcraft there.
