Default Ive got yet another problem.

First off my truck was beat by an isuzu rodeo and then he cut me off and ran the light..... Stupid people.

So heres the problem. Upon starting the truck while its turning over there is a sound that it makes thats hard to describe. After its started about a second later it makes the same sound. Its been getting to where it happens every startup and its starting to worry me. Does anybody know what this could possibly be?

Weak battery or a worn belt When you first start it the alternater is hit with a full load causing the belt to slip A weak battery just makes it worse spray some belt dressing or rub some soap on the belt if this helps its just temperary so replace the belt and load test the battery.

And take it from me, if you have to change the belt, go ahead and change out the tensioner and idler pulley. Did a tune up 2 summers ago and changed the belt on my 98 4.2. Three or four weeks later, the tensioner locked up on the interstate at 2 am and snapped the belt. A new tensioner and belt was put on. Then in July of this year the idler pulley locked up. Yup! 280 miles from home on the interstate. Thank the maker for AAA!!!

The pulleys aren't very expensive and way cheaper than a tow. Yours could last another 100k though. Hard to say.
