Default how to do brakes yourself

I have a 2003 f150 screw, and the from brakes are worn down on both sides! I called a couple shops to get some estimates and they said it would be about $350.. I was wondering if it's worth the money or if I should just buy the parts and do it my self.. also how do I do it.. any tips are greatly appreciated.
thanks!!!

Two posts?

Its really quite easy. For ~$150 you could upgrade to Expedition brakes (larger rotor and better caliper) and get stainless steel brake lines in the front...

I've never heard of the expedition thing, but I say do the brakes yourself. Not only do you save a couple hundred bucks, but if you have any mechanic experience, it should be pretty quick and easy. Anyway, I would like to hear more about the expedition mod... would it help for towing, or carrying loads.

doing brakes on a disc type system is one of the easiest things to do by yourself! a few pointers. all you'll need is stuff to take off your tires, a few wrenches, correct me if i'm wrong i think its a 12mm and a 15mm. i don't know i haven't done it yet on my truck, i just do it at work everyday on chevys:P but you also need a C-Clamp. once you take off the caliper, make sure you clean the slides that the pads slide on. before putting the new pads in, use one of the old pads and the C-Clamp to push in the piston on the caliper. make sure all the bolts are tight! lug nuts are torqued to spec! i think its 140 FT-LB. id check the torque on tires again after 50 miles too. just some tips from my history!

Is that 350 for just changing pads or is there more their doing? God that price is insane. Just changing pads is so easy to do yourself.

Also make sure you take the master cylinder cap off before compressing the caliper piston.

Good point. Use a large C clamp and a piece of wood to compress the 2 caliper pistons.
